"A family tree can wither if no one tends to it's roots."

POW WOW of the Reunion

The reunion did not start and end on its official time of Sunday, June 1st to say the least. We started on Saturday, at Ryan's, with Barbara, her husband Dick, grand daughters Allie and Lore who were from Michigan and descendants of the Isabelle and John "3 Finger" Penney Penney. We also met Beth and Cyndi Wallace for the first time who were the Sarah Elizabeth descendants, also from Michigan. Also in attendance were Cousin Michael and his mom Dixie, dad John, nephew Aaron all the way from the state of Alabama, and myself. We met at Ryan's for a little meet and great.

Next, we went to Michael and his families hotel room to talk some more and check out the family tree charts and to do what we do best, TALK! TALK! TALK!

On Monday, I crashed Beth and Cyndi, touring party and showed them around town for 9 hours non stop. We went to every cemetery and Penney home place for miles around. We even stopped at my Aunt Shirley and got her to give us a little tour. The only reason we stopped was because it had gotten dark and they need to leave early the next day.

Ryan's gang! That is Aaron in the red shirt all happy and smiling. Little did he know the next day he would be folding 150 progams for the reunion. He was a trooper! Thanks Aaron.

Beth, Aunt Shirley and Cyndi. We caught Aunt Shirley off guard and took her on a tour with us. She was, as always, a gracious host and we chatted on her back porch for and hour or so.

This is Cyndi, Beth and myself. You can see how dark it was. We had driven around all day and then we stood at the car and talked another hour or so. I knew in my heart that as soon as the conversation faded, as if that were possible, they would be leaving and I would not get to see them till next year and that made me very sad. You know, when you're family, a year is forever!
