"A family tree can wither if no one tends to it's roots."

POW-WOW with the Crawley's

Pictured are Eugene and Don Crawley. Eugene's mother was Inez Penney (Inez married Ernest Crawley) daughter of John P. Penney & Isabelle Yother. Gene is holding John and Isabell's family Bible and Isabelle's funeral book.

On April 30th I had the privilege to visit Eugene Crawley at his son, Don Crawley's store, Tools 4 School, in Soddy-Daisy. What a royal treat! Mr. Crawley shared lots of precious family memories and funny stories that will soon be up-dated on the blog. If you enjoy knowing how Strawberry Joe and 3 Finger got their name, thank Mr. Crawley. Mr. Crawley and his son are in possession of John P. (3 Finger John) Penney and Isabelle Yother's family Bible. Also, they had the funeral book of Isabelle Yother Penney. These items were awesome and I cannot believe I had the honor to view them. We were able to confirm the actual wedding date of John and Isabelle. Also, in addition to the 7 surviving children of John & Isabelle they had a baby girl Penney that was born and died in July 1897 in Deming, Arkansas. We had no record of this baby until today. So now we will be able to add this child to the family tree and thanks to this precious family history Baby Girl Penney will never be forgotten.

The Crawleys have also shared some never seen photos of the Penney and Crawley families and I cannot wait to add them to the blog. As soon as I got a chance that day I called and talked to poor Cousin Michael non-stop for 2 1/2 hours sharing with him as much as I could remember. What a rush of information. I did not go to bed till midnight and was up at 6:00 am the next morning pouring over all the new information. Each new thread of info leads to answers to questions and then cause us to ask more questions.

If you have items and you think they have no significance or they are unimportant, think again. Get in those drawers and attics and dig out those mementos, photos, pieces of papers and contact me or bring them to the reunion so you can help play a role in putting together the Penney family history. Every time I visit someone we are able to learn more about our family history and make some one's day.
