Michael and I have taken on a huge challenge and we understand that only a knowledge of the past can lead us to the future. We desire to record the family history in an accurate manner. Our ancestors are more than names, dates, and tombstones. They are real people with stories and histories and it is important that “No one gets forgotten.”

We consider it an honor to be invited to people’s homes and share their memories, photos and treasures. We always ask the owner, “Do you mind if we share this information and photos?” In our journey, we often find out information that people ask us not to share and we respect that. Not all memories are meant to be shared publically via this blog or with other people and we respect that. Sometimes people share with us some of their treasure and allow us to photograph those items but do not want it made public they are in possession of those items and we respect the wishes of the owner.

We need to know everything in order to put this family puzzle together. However, we do not have to tell everything we know.

Nannie Margaret Penney was the oldest surviving daughter of Isabelle Yother and John Pinkney Penney. Her older sibling was Baby Penney that only lived one day. Baby Penney was born in Deming Arkansas on 07/02/1897 - 07/03/1897. Nannie was born in Deming Arkansas, also on 08/05/1898 according to the family Bible.

When Nannie was 16 years old, she climbed out the window and eloped to marry Claude Gann, who was 17 years old. Together they had 6 children, Ernest 01/16/1916 - 1941, Birdie Lee 07/08/1918 - 2007, Ruth Evelyn 18 months old at her death, Lewis, 11/10/1922 - 06/04/1992, Mariette and Geraldine.
