On the right is Bette Penney, she is the wife of Stancel Penney whose father was Hirium and was also the son of James Thomas.
Out of the blue the phone rings and it was a new family member to get to know. It was Gretchen! She totes over a box full of photos and a precious family bible of her grandfather Rev. James Thomas "Jim" Penney. Bible are always a sacred item and a joy to see.
The greatest find is what we believe to be the only know photo of Sallie Gann. If you have been keeping up with me you know the two pieces of info I have vowed to find before I die is a photo of Sallie Gann and Sarah Elizabeth. Could I be half way to completing my life goals?? Next, we went to visit Betty Penney on Signal Mtn and she is such a sweet lady. I could not help be sad when she spoke of her husband Stancel and how he loved to talk and could have told us so much family history. Anyway, Bette was a gracious host and so kind to share some photos of her family.
