What is the point you ask? Stay with me! Little is know about Mile Penney's 2nd wife Sallie Gann. We have NO photos of her and it is my mission to find one. Since I have exhausted all my close family resources, or you could say gone through the drawers, trunks, personal possession, and family heirlooms, of anyone brave enough to invite me to their house I have still no photo of Sallie. The family cannot be complete without a photo of Sallie Gann (and her daughter Sarah Elizabeth, that is another story). I just know a photo exists, and I just know I can find it, and I just know I will know it when I see it. I just know!
Here is my point. I am now going to our allied families to see who has what. Here is how the Ganns play into our family history. John "3 Finger" Penney married Isabelle Yother. One of the children was Nannie (see the above listing for Nannie) and she married Claude Gann. Now Sallies maiden name was Gann. So could it be in the dark recesses of some forgotten trunk, in the Gann family, a photo of Sallie Gann be found? Well I don't know till I look! So the Gann family was gracious enough to invite us into their home and talk to us about it. We did not find that photo yet but we did find a photo of her 1st cousin and that is a great start. Brenda Gann was kind enough to lone me a book with the tree of the Gann's and cousin Michael was able to work some of his "put it together magic" and start to fit another piece of the puzzle together for us. A 1st cousin is a start and the book is tremendously helpful. We are putting it together one piece at a time!
I should also mention that Nannie Gann's daughters, Geraldine and Marietta were nice enough to invite me to their homes earlier this year and share their photos with me. Thanks to them their mother and father are well represented on the blog. In addition, they had photos of other family members we were able to share with other branches.
